Thursday, July 7th, 2016

We were ecstatic to learn that one of our favorite magazines The Improper Bostonian named Dress Boston’s Best in the Women’s Clothing category. See the write-up below.

The Improper Bostonian

Boston’s Best Annual Guide Issue

July 6 – 26, 2016

“Stocked with cool-girl labels like Sea NY, NSF, Ulla Johnson and A.P.C., Dress keeps the city’s fashion fans looking their best. The name nods to the classic little black number, but owners Martha Pickett and Jane Schlueter carry a lot more than that, stocking interesting yet wearable frocks, separates and outerwear, as well as a well-edited selection of jewelry, handbags, accessories, fragrances, footwear, including versatile Veja sneakers made from recycled plastic bottles. Hot tip: Keep an eye out for new styles from Rachel Comey coming this fall.”

IN THE PRESS | Interior Designer Nina Farmer Featured on One King’s Lane

Friday, March 4th, 2016

The über-talented, extremely stylish, and always imitable Nina Farmer was recently chosen as a featured designer by One Kings Lane, the very popular home decor website. The feature, titled “Inside a Rising Designer’s Sophisticated Family Brownstone“, includes an interview with Nina and several photographs of her beautiful and impressive Beacon Hill home (see a few of our favorite photos from the feature below). In the piece, Nina talks about the approach she took when designing her 1850’s brownstone, how she wanted to stay true to the historic quality of her home — going as far as to recreate the moldings and casings throughout to match the period —  but how she wanted to give it a fresh feel. She says, “I love things that are tactile and old, and also new and shiny. But everything has a sophisticated, approachable feel to it.”

Visit Dress to shop the latest new arrivals from Nina’s Gallery NF collection of home accessories, including lamps, coasters, pillows, and furniture pieces.

NOTE: Nina is photographed wearing The Mixed Stitch Stripe Mini Sweater by Current/Elliott and the Le Flare de Francoise jeans by Frame, both found at Dress.

In the Press | Best of Boston and Boston’s Best

Thursday, July 31st, 2014

We are very honored to have been recently acknowledged by Boston magazine in their 2014 Best of Boston issue, and by The Improper Bostonian in their 2014 Boston’s Best issue! We are very appreciative of the support!

Best of Boston

The swish crowd shed tears when Dress bid adieu to Newbury Street in May 2012. Thankfully, owners Martha Pickett and Jane Schlueter reopened their girly-cool boutique on Beacon Hill last August, and in addition to stocking the designers that defined the store’s first iteration—Vanessa Bruno, Loeffler Randall—they’re introducing fresh lines like A.P.C. and Ulla Johnson. Mix in small-batch fragrances, statement jewelry, and curated housewares, and it’s a one-stop shop for the city’s pretty young things.

Boston’s Best

It’s like that friend you haven’t seen in a while, but fall right back in step with the moment you reunite. Such was the lovefest that ensued when Dress reopened in Beacon Hill a year after closing on Newbury Street. Although the boutique’s name pays homage to the little black number of note, you can also play dress-up in tattered skinny jeans, bohemian tops and tuxedo shirt dresses. Envelope clutches, laser-cut oxfords and glitzy jewelry make for fine finishing touches. Welcome back, old friend.
